Book: Good to Great

I’ve been thinking ever since I mentioned the book that has a snippet of my story in it, that it would make sense for me to talk about other books that are well written and have a good point. So the first on the block is Good to Great. If you haven’t heard of this book, you should go and get it. This book has great analysis and points if you are in a hiring or managing role with others reporting to you. If you aren’t, the insights of the book are still useful if you have ever wondered why your organization succeeds/fails at what you are trying to accomplish. If you’ve read this book, chime in with your thoughts of why it is good or bad and the reasons why.

VC News: Redpoint Ventures

You’ll probably read about this news here first since the other major outlets haven’t yet picked this up.  Redpoint Ventures closed their third fund, Redpoint III, at a total of $400 million.  Their previous fund, Redpoint II, clocked in at $1.25 billion a few years back.  Congrats to the folks over at Redpoint.  Good bunch of folks who, hopefully, I’ll have the pleasure to work with one day.

Handling Criticism - The Real Challenge for Entrepreneurs

For some reason the folks over at Podcast Ready have found my blog and taken offense to what I wrote about their web site. I’m not sure if I buy this explanation since some considerable work was done on the flash animation for it to just be a “holder” page. But I’ll let them have a pass on that.

Book: Lessons from the Edge

Lessons from the Edge: Survival Skills for Starting and Growing a Company

There is a new book coming out that I’m quoted in but I’m going to refrain from posting about it here until I’ve had a chance to review it. Based on who the author is, I’m sure the content is quite accurate, but just in case I’ll hold off. In the meantime, I realized that I never talked about another book that I was interviewed for. The book, Lessons from the Edge, documents stories from numerous entrepreneurs in their struggles to get their respective companies going. Now, I will admit that I’ve actually only read my story but if that is any indication to the quality of the book - it is a keeper. :-) One of these days I’ll get around to reading the rest of the stories. I’ll talk about the newer book as soon as I get my hands on a copy.

Blah

Blah.  They’re still evil.
