A Month of Updates in One Post

Wow, so I’ve taken a month off from saying anything. Things have been a bit busy.

The day after my last post, I started working again. I think I mentioned before that I’m consulting at a large technology firm in Atlanta. Things are going well and we’ve got some interesting stuff going on this week. Hopefully you’ll see some announcements in a few months at which time I’ll tell you where I’m at and what I’m doing.

Also during the last month, I took on the task of being a coordinator for a bunch of European Marshall Memorial Fellows. As some of you may remember, I was an American Marshall Memorial Fellow back in 2004. I had a great trip (aside from badly spraining my ankle at NATO) and I really learned a lot.

So when the previous Atlanta local coordinator decided to not coordinate any more for the German Marshall Fund, I volunteered to step in. I of course ignored the fact that I would have to take two days off from a job that I started the week prior. Probably not the best career move ever made but I think everyone was okay with that.

I’m also in contemplation of joining two more corporate boards. This would be beyond the seat I hold at my old company. Now that I’m out of school I’ll start attending board meetings regularly. Of the two boards that I’m considering, one is pretty much a lock since I think we have the terms figured out. Just got to get the paperwork done.

One interesting blog note that I think I should mention. Those of you reading this on a RSS feeder won’t care about this but those that visit the actual web site might. On the right hand side of this page you’ll see a box to sign up for “Email Updates”. Basically, FeedBurner takes a feed of my blog and sends out emails to subscribers whenever I post new stuff. That way you don’t have to worry about visiting the site and content will be delivered to your inbox. Subscribe if you want. Content should be much more frequent now that things have settled down a bit.

More on that European MMF visit to Atlanta soon.

  1. [...] But wait, what happens if server fries itself or something like that? All my data is lost. Okay, so I’ve started backing up onto a flash drive which gets dropped and periodically dropped into a safety deposit box. But that requires me to do the backup and go to the bank. Plus the backups aren’t continuous. And the drive is only a gig so I have to choose what is most important to backup. Better than nothing though. If you’re interested in doing this, you might want to look at Sony’s new Micro Vault Tiny USB drives which pack a lot of storage in very little space. So during my month long blogging haitus, I decided to take a look at a bunch of online backup services to see if any was cost effective and secure enough for me to use. I’m happy to say I did find one (actually two) that works for me. Read on to see what I’ve chosen and see if my research can help you out. [...]
