European Marshall Memorial Fellows in Atlanta
June 27th, 2007 • Marshall Memorial Fellowship
Starting today and running for the next few days I am coordinating a trip to Atlanta for five European Marshall Memorial Fellows (MMF). This is the second year I’ve coordinated the Atlanta trip for European fellows and I hope this year will be smoother than last year. I’ve already hit some bumps in the road but nothing too huge.
We’ve got some fantastic meetings scheduled for the next few days. Among the things we’ll be doing are:
- touring Grady Memorial Hospital and getting an overview of healthcare in Atlanta
- visiting with the Chairman elect of the Fulton County Commissioners (he’s a MMF alum)
- visiting the Gateway Center and seeing how they help transition clients away from homelessness
- doing a ride along with DeKalb county police
- visiting the Martin Luther King Center
- doing a private tour of CNN (two MMF alums work at CNN)
I’m hoping to capture some photos over the next few days and I’ll try to write some commentary after the trip is done. I have no hope of blogging while these folks are here since it’ll be wall to wall meetings and activities.
If you happen to see me around town in the next few days with a group of weary looking travelers, come up and say hi and welcome our visitors to Atlanta! And if this trip sounds fun to you, consider applying to be an American Marshall Memorial Fellow next year and do a trip to Europe for four weeks (all expenses paid!). Competition is fierce (only four Atlantans are selected yearly) but the experience is phenomenal. You can find my trip experience (and other related MMF stuff) blogged here.

Sanjay,
It was great to meet you and the European Fellows last week! I’m sure they enjoyed their action-packed visit to Atlanta.
Your blog is great — I came across it while researching MMF. I’m looking forward to the photos…especially of the Eco Manor.
