Not too long ago, I started playing Risk with my kids. I love that game and lamented not having played it for so long. So I hatched an idea to do a quarterly board game night for entrepreneurs, investors, and those tangentially related. Same rules as other events that I run though – no pitching/selling during the night but come and enjoy yourself over an evening of fun board game playing.
There is a signup form here that you can add yourself to. Once you do, you’ll get an invite in the next day or two to register for the evening of game playing (first night of games is February 23rd from 6pm or so until 10pm or so). The selected game for the evening is the game that inspired the evening – Risk. There will be some cost for the evening to cover pizza (Mellow Mushroom probably!) but nothing more than $10-$15 or so. The first evening is limited to 12 players (two simultaneous games of 6 people).
Just so you know, signing up for the evening doesn’t gaurantee a spot. You’ll have to be quick to respond when the invites go out. Already we’re well over-subscribed for the first evening. But don’t let that deter you. The group coming to play board games will change every quarter so it’ll always be an interesting mix of people.

This is a great idea Sanjay. Me and a handful of friends from ATDC used to get together on the 2nd floor and do this every other week. The trick is to make sure that the games are meritocracies and not too heavily based on chance. Either way, it was a rewarding time for everyone involved.
