Marshall Forum on Transatlantic Affairs - Wrap Up

I’ve been running around trying to catch up on things after the conference. The conference, I’m told, was a hit with everyone. I was too worried about the execution of the conference to really notice. And even though I sat in a lot of the panels, my mind was racing around and thinking about other issues. But looking back at the photos, everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves. All I know is that once the closing dinner rolled around on Saturday, I was having a lot of fun. All of my photos are now posted on Flickr, so feel free to take a look. I even included the psychedelic photos that I took while we were dancing after dinner on Saturday.
Final note about the conference. The folks over at Global Atlanta wrote a nice article about the Global Business luncheon that we had during the conference. Thanks Trevor!

We had a great first full day of panels and sessions for the Marshall Forum on Transatlantic Affairs. Speakers today included some great folks like former CIA Director Jim Woolsey and German Ambassador Klaus Scharioth.
Yesterday, we had a phenomenal opening dinner at the New World of Coke and had an outstanding and moving keynote from Jackson Kelly.
We haven’t really had too many issues (so far) although we had one speaker not show up today because of last minute commitments (can’t say who but it was for a good reason).
As always, pictures are being fairly regularly posted into my flickr account here. Descriptions and tags will follow in the future when I get time. That means way after the conference has ended and I’ve recovered…
Marshall Forum on Transatlantic Affairs

For the next few days I’m going to be knee deep in the execution of the Marshall Forum on Transatlantic Relations. We’ve got a lot of great speakers lined up and a lot of fabulous venues for the conference. Because of my responsibilities, I may not be able to blog during the conference but I’m hoping to keep a Flickr set updated with current going-ons. The Flickr set I’ve setup for the conference is here.

I’ve been way behind in getting things done and someone recently reminded me that I never posted pictures from the European Marshall Fellows trip. You can see the entire set of pictures here but let me also talk about what we actually did since it ended up differing a bit from what I said we’d do before.
European Marshall Memorial Fellows in Atlanta

Starting today and running for the next few days I am coordinating a trip to Atlanta for five European Marshall Memorial Fellows (MMF). This is the second year I’ve coordinated the Atlanta trip for European fellows and I hope this year will be smoother than last year. I’ve already hit some bumps in the road but nothing too huge.
We’ve got some fantastic meetings scheduled for the next few days. Among the things we’ll be doing are:
- touring Grady Memorial Hospital and getting an overview of healthcare in Atlanta
- visiting with the Chairman elect of the Fulton County Commissioners (he’s a MMF alum)
- visiting the Gateway Center and seeing how they help transition clients away from homelessness
- doing a ride along with DeKalb county police
- visiting the Martin Luther King Center
- doing a private tour of CNN (two MMF alums work at CNN)
