Book: Who Controls the Internet?
April 28th, 2006 • Press Clippings, Technology
Recently I was speaking with someone who happened to be reading the book Who Controls the Internet? : Illusions of a Borderless World, which jogged my memory to write about it here. This is the book that I mentioned before in which some of my story at Digital Envoy is chronicled. I haven’t actually read the entire book but I did read my snippet in the book. Unfortunately the authors, Jack Goldsmith and Tim Wu, gave more ink to some idiot competitors but hey, press is press. If you’re into politics the name Jack Goldsmith may sound familiar to you. Jack was formerly an assistant attorney general in the Office of Legal Counsel (now he teaches law at Harvard). An interesting story about his experience at the White House (and how he led a rebellion against torturing prisoners) was chronicled in NewsWeek.
Book: Lessons from the Edge

There is a new book coming out that I’m quoted in but I’m going to refrain from posting about it here until I’ve had a chance to review it. Based on who the author is, I’m sure the content is quite accurate, but just in case I’ll hold off. In the meantime, I realized that I never talked about another book that I was interviewed for. The book, Lessons from the Edge, documents stories from numerous entrepreneurs in their struggles to get their respective companies going. Now, I will admit that I’ve actually only read my story but if that is any indication to the quality of the book - it is a keeper. :-) One of these days I’ll get around to reading the rest of the stories. I’ll talk about the newer book as soon as I get my hands on a copy.
Digital Envoy - Article in Technology Review

We got a short mention in an article in MIT’s Technology Review April 2005 issue. You can read the entire article here, at least for the next little while. I think articles convert to subscriber only after some period of time.
Entrepreneur Magazine

There is a short story about my company in this month’s Entrepreneur magazine. I don’t think the characterization of our startup costs being only a hundred bucks is entirely accurate since we did everything with investor money and not our own. But it is a nice angle and got us into the story. ;-)
UPDATE
I just got a copy of the magazine and realized the one thing missing in the online version compared to the magazine version is the picture of me and my co-founders. Since we took the picture and sent it to the magazine, I have the original. So here it is.

Catalyst Magazine

I was interviewed for an article in Catalyst Magazine (it’s pretty much an Atlanta only magazine so don’t go looking for it if you aren’t in Atlanta) not too long ago. I haven’t actually seen the magazine or read the article yet. Actually, until someone told me about the article earlier today I didn’t know what context my interview was being used for in the magazine (thanks Mark!). Here is the obligatory magazine cover with my mug shot on it.
