Get the Juicy Gossip

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, this announcement will not come as a surprise.  For the last few weeks I’ve been tooling around with PHP and Yahoo Pipes in order to get a new news and information aggregator up and running.

So today, I’m announcing the rollout of atlanta.startupgossip.com.  The site is an automatically generated list of current news, tweets, and blog posts as they relate to local startups (in the case of Atlanta, that’s 154 startups as of right now).  You can also post your startup job openings on the site for only $10 for 30 days.

When you visit the site, you’ll notice that I have heavily borrowed the design and layout of another news aggregator - Alltop.  In the coming weeks though, the layout is going to start changing to adapt to what is being conveyed in this site.  Also, some of the content blocks are going to be changed and improved for this particular application.

I’ll head one request off the pass right now - yes, there will be RSS feeds of the content in the future.  Right now, I just wanted to get this up and running.

Eventually I plan to start launching additional city focused sites for other communities.  If you have a specific request for a city/community to be added, leave a comment and we can talk off-blog about getting it done.

So go and check out the site and feel free to leave suggestions and comments on this post.  News is updated on an ongoing basis so check back early and often to keep up with the Atlanta Startup Gossip!

  1. very nice.. Love the aggregator concept.

Is there a way to turn off or filter the chinese articles that show up on the news section on the left hand side?

Also, maybe date/time stamping the articles and blog posts?

& have you thought about aggregating the friendfeed entries for tweeters you are showing?

    But overall, it looks good.
