Kentucky Gets Hosed By AnnualCreditReport.com

Most folks know that I’m a founder of a company that focuses on providing real time geographic (and other) intelligence about users on the Internet. So I usually pick up on things that are wrong in relation to maps and things like that because, well, I’ve been staring at maps and Internet routing information for a good portion of the last six years. So I stumbled onto the AnnualCreditReport.com website and noticed something funny about this map that they had up:

Wrong map from AnnualCreditReport.com

Apparently, Kentucky is supposed to be a part of “3″. Folks in “3″ get access to a free annual credit report on June 1, 2005. “2″s get access on March 1, 2005. The disturbing part of this isn’t when folks get access to their free credit reports. The disturbing part is whoever designed this map did it wrong - Kentucky is shaded into “2″ and not “3″ (go check a normal map if you don’t remember your states or state shapes). The more disturbing fact is that no one seems to have noticed this in the many months that it has been posted on the site.

Then again, maybe I’m taking it personally since I was born and raised in Kentucky even though I don’t live there anymore.
