Open Coffee – August 12th (Spreadsheet Jockeys welcome!)
August 4th, 2008 • Conferences + Events, Entrepreneurship + Startups
Okay, so with all that activity last week I thought I’d hold off on announcing the next open coffee so that this didn’t get lost in the hub-bub. On August 12th we’re going to do an Open Coffee at the Georgia Tech bookstore Starbucks. We’re going to run from 2pm until 6pm. I’m going to hang out and catch dinner afterward and then head to the AWSome meetup. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join me (make sure you RSVP for the meetup if you’re going to that as well).
Also new for this event will be the announcement of one of the attendees. Greg Foster, who recently joined Noro-Moseley Partners, will be there and happy to talk to any and all entrepreneurs about raising money from venture capitalists. This is not an opportunity to pitch your deal to him but it is an opportunity to get some feedback from him to help you along your way. Use the opportunity wisely.
And if you are a spreadsheet jockey, you’re welcome too. We can help you understand why taking a purely financial view of companies is a silly way to think about things. :-)
UPDATE: The Upcoming group for Open Coffee Atlanta is here. The Upcoming event for this day is here.

Greg and anyone else from the venture community is welcome to join us at Startup Drinks the following evening (Wed. 8/13 @ Fado)!

Wish I could join you guys afterwards, but, alas, my 6 week old still needs dad home at a decent hour . In any case, looking forward to hanging out with Sanjay and everyone else that afternoon.

Just wanted to apologize for departing a little early on Tuesday afternoon. I really enjoyed spending time with everyone talking about the issues we’ve been discussing these last few weeks. I was actually heading out to meet with a Partner from Sequoia who was in town (I learned of his trip at the last minute). I figured that since one of my core messages was the need to attract more investors to the city, I would be forgiven…
In any case, I’ve told Sanjay that I am going to try to attend as many of the open coffee sessions as possible. I think this kind of “raw” conversation is a great way for all of us to get to know one another better and gain consensus on the best way to tackle our shared challenges.
