Startup Riot – Perhaps We Should Put VCs in the Hot Seat

July 16, 2008

This is just awesome.  The Israeli conference, TWS08, got not only startups onstage to pitch their companies but they got three VCs to pitch slide decks that they had never seen before.  The results are quite funny and perhaps this is something we should add to Startup Riot to add some levity to the day.

Hey Sanjay

I don’t even think the most polished entrepreneur could present a random slide deck that they’ve never seen. They might sound polished, but the delivery would be rough, and they’d open themselves up to all sorts of sand traps come Q&A time. Obviously you need to be familiar with, and comfortable with the material.

But it is funny stuff :) Actually, I think it would equally funny to have an entrepreneur pitch another entrepreneur’s deal. Throw 5 business cards into a hat, and let them draw. They ahve to pitch that guy’s deal :)

Cheers.
Scott

This would be freak’n brilliant. I think it would also help set a looser tone for startups to relax and give better pitches.
