I just got invited into the beta for Jangl. Jangl is an interesting idea but I’m not sure if I would pay for and use it later. Basically, you set up a Jangl account and they keep your phone number. Then, if people want to call you they go to the Jangl site and enter in your ID. They have to get their phone number verified (this is the part that I think will hamper adoption) after which they get a phone number to call. That number reroutes calls to your private phone number. By doing this, your private number stays private and neither party (you included) knows the other person’s phone number. Any time you (or the other party) wants to stop communicating with the other party, you can get rid of the Jangl phone number and thus prevent calls to you (or them). So basically Jangl is an anonymizing phone call system. Pretty cool I think. If anyone wants to give me a Jangl, you can click here and give it a try. Also, by doing this, you’ll get yourself an account which means you don’t have to wait and hope they give you a Jangl account.
