After 311 days as the first Entrepreneur in Residence at the United Way of Greater Atlanta, I'm no longer with the organization with unfortunately little to show for my time or effort (including the original announcement, which has been removed from UWGA's site - but no worries, the Internet doesn't forget!). This is particularly frustrating for me because of how many months of effort I expended when I could have been working on other projects. But this experience has given me valuable insights into the structural challenges that many established organizations face when trying to innovate and what organizational cultures to avoid in the future. Read on for some thoughts on these challenges.
